HOW TO STYLE A CONSOLE

TIP #1 | CONNECT WITH A COLOR SCHEME
Choose a few colors that will be used in your design. Use these colors in the items you select for your console and place them throughout in the way of decor.
Tip #2 | SELECT AN ACHOR PIECE
This is going to be the focal point of your vignette. Mirrors can be a great option as they come in a variety of shapes, finishes and sizes. You could also use a large piece of artwork, paired pieces or a small gallery wall. This is where you can show some of your design style.
Tip #3: STACK IT UP
Stack books under smaller items that may need some height or may feel disconnected from the taller items. This will also add some dimension.
TIP # 4 | VARY HEIGHTS
This goes along with Tip#3-select accessory and decor pieces that are varying heights. This allows the eye to move around the vignette thoughtfully. Its best to have three points of heights to connect the items within the design.
TIP #5 | ADD A PERSONAL TOUCH
Use items that are unique to you and your family. Select pieces or add photos that are from travel or a vacation. Place a sculpture, figurine, etc. that means something to you. This is your space and it should reflect you and your style.
TIP #6 | USE ODD NUMBERS
Think about using odd numbers when grouping accessories on your console table, they tend to be more visually appealing to the eye. Groupings of 3 are common, but other odd combinations work as well.
TIP #7 | MIX IT UP
Select accessories and decor pieces that are different textures and materials. Use metal and glass or wood with stone. Think about the shapes. Mixing squares objects with round will add dimension to overall vignette.
TIP #8 | LIGHT
Adding a pair of lamps, or just a single lamp adds to the overall ambiance, but is also a functional part of the design as well. Candles can be used in the same way.
TIP #9 | ADD GREEN
Greenery in any form will add life to your console design. It could be in the way of a small succulent plant, a tall vase with simple stems, grasses or flowers. Greenery also adds needed textures and color.
TIP #10 | USE THE BOTTOM
If your console has an open bottom or base to it, don't be afraid to use that space.. This can be a wonderful location to add baskets, bins or even small ottomans or benches.

Do not feel like you have to be limited to using a console. Buffets, credenzas and sideboards can all be used similarly and styled just the same.
